Style:
The one of a kind, sharp design of these
Monster Diesel VEKTR On-Ear Headphones (Black)
will definitely turn heads. With distinct lines and diamond like
angles, they stand out among the other headphones out there. They have a
glossy black surface that can attract finger prints, but no more than
any other electronic device with a high shine surface. They come with a
small soft cleaning cloth to wipe away any prints, and it tucks nicely
into the included carrying case. From top to bottom, everything on these
Monster Diesel VEKTR
is black, except a single Diesel logo on the side, done in white on top
of brushed black aluminum. Everyone will know what brand you're
sporting, but it's not showy.
Comfort:
Almost
perfect. The ear cups are super soft, with a plush cushioned design.
Their design is meant to be "on-ear", so the soft padding actually rests
on your ears themselves, rather than your ear sitting inside of them,
with the cushioning on your head. The top of the
Monster Diesel VEKTR On-Ear Headphones (Black)
that rests on your head has a rubber texture to it, to prevent them
from slipping around on your head. I find this feature quite useful,
since I have found the most comfortable way to wear them is slightly
angled back on my head, not directly on top. If I set them right on top,
I find my head gets a bit sore from wearing them (they may be small,
but they have weight to them). So by wearing them slightly tilted back,
this takes the pressure off the top of the head and the rubber texture
helps hold them in place. The trick is finding just the right position
to wear them, once you do, they can be worn without discomfort.
Cable:
To start, if you're having a hard time finding the cable in the box, check right above where the
black Monster Diesel Vektr headphones
are located, underneath the "Monster" logo. Remove the cover and you'll
find a hidden compartment with a triangular 3.5mm cable inside. The
cable does have a control-talk button, so you can answer calls while
wearing the headphones. However, there is no volume control in the
cable, just a single call answer button.
Storage:
Even with the sold and weighty feel to them, they are a tri-fold design. Both ear cups fold in and the
Monster Diesel black headphones
store in an included black case. The case is thin, with minimal
padding. So it's not going offer a lot of protection, but it also
doesn't add any bulk when space is limited. Inside the black case there
is a small nylon pocket with elastic on the top for storing the
detachable 3.5mm audio cable. The case opens and closes smoothly by a
zipper.
Sound:
I listened to a wide variety of
music/audio through these to see what sounded best. I tested them out
with some hard rock, R&B, blues, spoken audio without music (YouTube
commentaries), and some classical/instrumental music. Everything ended
up sounding great. Rap and R&B had a ton of boom in the base. Audio
commentaries were so clear you could hear the distance each person
speaking was from the microphone, not just louder or quieter, but which
person was closer and father away. The sound is good enough that you can
tell clearly tell a high quality recording from a lousy one. While they
may not have the absolute best sound possible, it might be hard to get
much better and still get as much base in the music as you do with
these. I notice the sound actually seems to sound a bit better when
music is played at a higher volume through these.
The
Good: Top notch original design, crisp mids and highs make you feel like
you put a concert on head, design will appeal to both men and women.
The
Bad: Collects fingerprints easily, angular ear cup design leads to
music leaking out and ambient noise leaking in, bass could be a bit
stronger, a bit pricey - but that's what you get for high fashion.
Conclusion:
Edgy design, sharp lines and glossy black surface are just enough to make people notice what kind of
Monster Diesel Vektr black headphones
you're wearing. High quality audio songs play beautifully, but
listening to low quality recordings may drive you crazy, since the
distinction is so apparent. Their tri-fold design, detachable 3.5mm
cable and included storage case make traveling with these a definite
option. The only flaw I can find with these is their comfort level.
Their weight makes their quality design and price apparent, but can at
times, cause some discomfort on the top of the head, unless you are able
to find a better position to wear them slightly pushed back. If you
love the looks and the style, you'll be pleased with their sound and
functionality.
